After nearly 18 years in business of selling nonfiction to fiction Black books, hosting book signings and discussions, Desiree Sanders, owner of Afrocentric Bookstore, decided to hang up her hat and close up shop for good.
Sometime next week or by early August, Sanders will close the store that has sat in the Bronzeville community at 47th and King Drive since 2003. Before opening in Bronzeville, Afrocentric previously had two other locations that included 234 S. Wabash and 333 S. State, in 1990 and 1997, respectively.
